BKPM to Host 2019 Regional Investment Forum to Boost RI Economy

In an effort to attract more foreign and domestic investments, the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) will organize the 2019 Regional Investment Forum on March 11 in the ICE - BSD, Tangerang, Banten, creating a platform for government and businesses to engage with each other, highlighting the importance of digital technology to boost Indonesia’s regional and tourism development.

The forum will be attended by more than 500 participants comprising representatives from the central and regional government, digital startups, investment, and financial institutions.

The forum will feature various programs: a seminar featuring top speakers and digital technology companies, digital startup pitching sessions featuring startups in various fields that will pitch their business concepts to investors, a business clinic providing consulting services for startups and investors alike on investment procedures in Indonesia, one-on-one meetings enabling participants to maintain contact directly with provincial government officials, exhibitions showcasing selected startups and regional investment opportunities and an investment lounge facilitating informal meetings among participants.

Specifically, Indonesian startups taking part in the forum have a diverse business focus, covering several sectors: agriculture, fisheries and livestock, tourism and leisure, e-commerce, innovative and creative products, financial technology, health care, food and drink, and education.

The panel discussion, in particular, will feature insightful talks by practitioners in the field of tourism, regional development and digital technology, which are the emphasis of the upcoming forum. It will be opened by BKPM Chairman Thomas Lembong with his remarks.

The panel discussions will feature prominent speakers including Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Sugeng as well as venture capital company Kejora Venture founding partner Sebastian Togelang, among others.

The ministers will appear at a session called “Indonesia’s Strategy on Digital Economy and Tourism Industry: The Regulators’ Perspective”.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and East Java Vice Governor Emil Dardak are also scheduled to attend the panel discussion, with the forum committee yet to confirm their attendance. Emil is expected to appear at a session called “Talking Business: Indonesia’s Investment Opportunities in the Digital Era”.
