BKPM Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Wahyu Sakti Trenggono visited Maluku on February
5, 2021. This visit was aimed to ensure the development plan of an integrated
fishing port area located in Central Maluku Regency. Besides, this visit is
also to determine synchronization of infrastructure preparation both from
fishing ports and industrial estates.
In this new port development plan, the cooperation scheme will involve private investment to
provide additional infrastructure with the government’s role in preparing basic
infrastructure and is targeted to be completed by the end of 2023. The
government has conducted a review in 3 alternative locations which will be
decided immediately and formed a team related to the land acquisition issue.
BKPM is committed to collaborating with related Ministries and local governments and also supports accelerating investment
licensing, which will be an important key in realizing the implementation of
the fishing port development. By development plan of the modern fishing port
will create economic growth in Maluku. This is in line with President Joko Widodo’s
direction that the government continues to encourage Maluku as a National Fish
Barn (LIN) and a new economic growth area that focuses on the fisheries sector.
