Bahlil Lahadalia, Chairman of BKPM
 

Bahlil Lahadalia is the Minister of Investment/Chairman of Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, he was born in North Maluku.

Prior his appointment in the cabinet, he has a long professional record. In 2003, his name was registered at the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) at the district, provincial, and central level boards. After having various experiences in the organization and having a high-paying job, Bahlil decided to quit his job and set up his own company. This is the beginning of the success of this Papuan man.

By seeing so many natural resources that are abundant in the land of Papua, he made an opportunity to open a business. Now he has 10 companies in various fields under the banner of PT Rifa Capital as a holding company.

In 2015, his career as an entrepreneur became more complete when the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) National Conference, participants elected him to become the Chairperson of HIPMI for the 2015-2019 period. Bahlil also led trade delegations for young entrepreneurs to Japan in 2016 and to Europe in 2018 (HIPMI-Europe Trade Mission 2018).

Bahlil graduated from College of Economics, Port Numbay Jayapura, Papua and Cendrawasih University in Jayapura for his master degree. While in college, he was known to be very active as a student senate administrator until he joined the Islamic Student Association (HMI) which took him to the top position as PB HMI’s General Treasurer.
