Development of Fiber Optic (FO) or optical fiber to support acceleration and expansion program of Indonesia development one of which is done through the implementation of the Indonesia Digital Network (IDN). To support the government’s project to develop the Palapa Ring project. Palapa Ring is a long-term project which aims to connect national communications networks through fiber optic cable, both sea and land, throughout the islands in Indonesia. Construction of a national fiber optic network will reach 440 districts and cities across Indonesia with a total length of 36,000 kilometers of submarine cables, and inland cable along the 22,000 kilometers. Ring region that become the target object of Palapa Ring is Sumatra Ring along 6,891, Java Ring 8,178 km, Kalimantan Ring 4,293 km, Sulawesi and North Maluku Ring 5,422 km, Bali-Nusa Ring 1,490 km and Maluku-Papua 25 km. In addition, the port of Padang became one of 18 broadband ports built by the government. Provision of broadband infrastructure and services Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT) in the port area is the foundation of modern digital toward the seaport in Indonesia. Development of broadband in the region in line with the government’s program to make Indonesia into the world maritime axis. The total demand for electricity in the entire region of Sumatra is 8.7 GW and 1.1 GW of electricity procurement will be handled by the PLN. While the remainder, 7.6 GW will be handled through Independent Power Producer (IPP). In order to answer the needs of national power, the government announced the construction and infrastructure development in the field of electrical energy through the provision of power generation by 35 GW over the next five years (2015-2019).
